Our Small Business Consulting Group found critical flaws in the backup process of every company we helped. Offices that had started on the right path never stayed the course. Here is a list of the many problems that were observed. Daily backup routine did not get followed. The backups were not stored in a secure location. Backup data was stored only at a single location. Tapes deteriorate in time and are effected by the environment. The data was not encrypted so anyone getting a hold of the data can access it.
